Voilà qui risque de faire chier quelques puristes. Il n'y aura pas de Kryptonite.

2013 is set to be a huge year for comic book movies. Not only do we have Iron Man 3 to look forward to in a few weeks, the coming months are filled with titles like The Wolverine, Thor: The Dark World, Kick-Ass 2, 300: Rise of an Empire, Red 2, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, and more. But when it comes to comic book heroes - no matter where your allegiances aline - there's no denying that Superman is the true original, which explains why Entertainment Weekly has highlighted Man of Steel on their latest cover, seen above.

But not only does Supes grace the cover, the magazine's write-up about the superhero movie has some interesting details as well. For starters, according to Zack Snyder, the film will be the first in the franchise not to feature the alien hero's only weakness. "I’ll be honest with you," director Zack Snyder told them, "there’s no Kryptonite in the movie." Instead, the film will be taking a new tactic with the character, having him be born special while still on Krypton. Apparently, in the film Kal-El's birth is "cause for alarm," and once he reaches Earth he is taught by his parents (played by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane) to hide his powers, even when facing dire and dangerous situations.

Beyond the emotional side, however, the magazine also says that the movie will have plenty of what Superman Returns lacked: action. In addition to commenting that the footage they got to preview featured plenty of "building-smashing, train-slinging, heat-vision-blasting battles," they also have a quote from producer Chuck Roven, who said in an interview, "You want to give the audience great spectacle. You want them to go to the movie, be eating their popcorn and be like, 'Wow!' But it’s just not good enough to give them the ‘Wow.’ You want them to be emotionally engaged. Because if you just have the ‘wow,’ ultimately you get bludgeoned by that and you stop caring."
