Depuis ce matin, j'ai lâché Loma Prieta pour me tourner vers Touché Amoré.

Ça faisait assez longtemps que j'en avais écouté et c'est meilleur que dans mes souvenirs. Ça sonne comme du Comadre, mais en meilleur.

La chanson avec Geoff Rickly (le gars de Thursday, la), History Reshits Itself, est pas mal touchante. Par contre, mon coup de coeur va à Honest Sleep. Les deux versions sont excellentes, mais j'ai une préférence pour celle du full lenght. Je sens déjà que s'ils l'a font au show de jeudi (ce qui risque sûrement d'arriver), ça va pas mal être le highlight de ma soirée.

A toast, tonight we drink to numbers, a set of graphs tables and formulas that equate to you and me, we can be added subtracted multiplied and divided, the ones and zeroes, the yin and yang of information, cascades of it reaching us faster than our own ideas, satellites mistook for stars, always knowing where we are even when we don't, blood shot eyes and bruised finger tips, mental masturbation via cathode rays, we need something visceral, we need to see starlight not lime light, definitions will be changed, sights will be heard and sound will be seen, screaming in revelry, years will pass before the minutes do, social and temporal fabrics unwind as we tug the threads, frayed edges, only then will we be able to fuck in the streets amidst the lonely buildings, dollar bills will be used for campfires instead of justifying natural disasters, conversation will be the only real currency, the ghost of a prozac nation burned to the bones by choices beyond paper or plastic, that or worse, so raise your glasses my friends our heartstrings are about to play a new song.

Une autre merveilleuse compilation, dans la veine des Emo Armageddon, Emo Annihilation encore offerte pas React With Protest, de 41 groupes assez connus du genre. Ils nous performent d'assez courtes chansons, plus ou moins 30 secondes, pour donner un disque de 22 minutes.

C'est intéressant de voir comment un band qui, habituellement joue des chansons de 4 à 7 minutes, peut condenser cette énergie et ces même émotions dans un tout petit 30 secondes. On ne tombe pas dans la formule grind ou power-violence, loin de là.

Une mine d'or pour les fans du genre et un bon outil aux non-initiés pour le découvrir.

Mes coups de coeur vont aux chansons de Alegory of the Cave, Loma Prieta, Belle Epoque et Suis la Lune.
